trying to set up FTP server on my PC, but...

Hello,

I have been trying for the last hour to set up FTP on my Home PC so that I can access it outside my home network, primarily friends house and work.

I downloaded IIS management console 7 and enabled the different Windows features explained in these two threads:
http://www.wikihow.com/Set-up-an-FTP-Between-Two-Computers
http://serverfault.com/questions/85027/how-do-i-setup-an-ftp-server-on-windows-7

but I still am unable.

I am currently testing it out via LAN before I open it up to the external IP, but I cannot even get that right.

Does any1 have any ideas or know of a great guide I can use?

I would just use FileZilla server personally. Ive never used the Windows FTP server.

Filezilla is really easy to use. Set a directory. Make a user. Open up ports etc. Job done.

Cool, I'll see if I can get it to work with that, thanks!
