Attaching a pump directly to the back of my reservoir

This will be my first water loop. My biggest question is "Can I attach my pump directly to the back of my reservior using a male to male 1/4 inch adapter, or should I just use tubing to attach the pump and place the pump at the bottome of my case?"

Reservoir : http://www.frozencpu.com/products/16885/ex-res-415/EK_Dual_Bay_SPIN_Reservoir_w_Flow_Meter_-_Acrylic_CSQ.html?id=kSW9SrjM&mv_pc=146

Pump: http://www.frozencpu.com/products/15145/ex-pmp-185/EK_DDC_X-Top_Pump_Top_Rev_2_-_Acrylic_w_Swiftech_MCP355_Series_Pump_Installed.html?id=kSW9SrjM&mv_pc=148

I would like to attach the pump directly to the reservoir to save space and use less tubing. I am just mostly wondering if it is safe to do using the listed items and if there is a better way to go about it.

i was wondering about this a while ago also, but in the end i didnt go with it because i figured unless i came up with some kind of way to attach the pump so it wasnt just hanging off the bottom of the res, there might be a leak eventually from pulling on the res.

let me know how it goes, im interested in it also, i have an EK pump top which isnt compatible with the bitspower pump/res upgrade kit or i would just do that tongue.gif

There is really no reason you can't attach anything to anything if it fits. The only thing is that with the pump screwed directly to the back of the res it will put the pump output at a sideways direction and could end up in an awkward position, and also that the pump vibration will be transmitted straight to the bay res and the metal frame of the case. It will make it hard to keep noise down.
A slightly better option would be to use a rotary male to male connector
http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=29052
or even a d-plug
http://www.frozencpu.com/products/10959/ex-tub-689/Bitspower_G14_D-Plug_Male_Male_Coupler_Set_-_Matte_Black_BP-MBWP-C07.html?tl=g30c101s1354
They will both at least allow the pump output to be oriented in a direction you choose and might be a little less likely to work loose due to vibration.

Unless using a bay res pumps are pretty much always better mounted on some nice soft isolating material.
