Cpu dying?

Thread Starter
Hi i sold my old setup. intel i5 760 cpu ram psu mobo to a friend. He bought a new hdd for himslef and put the sistem together and played bf3. sadly after about an hour sometimes longer sometimes faster even in the loading screen pc freezes up. once or twice it was bsod code 101 for more voltage. Then we upped the voltage quite a big way because everything still froze. like few days earlier i was golden at 3.7ghz 1.22 vcore and 1.23 vtt. and was stable for VERY long time. and since we couldnt get stable only 2.5ghz on bf3 1.25vcore and 1.23vtt i was going knots. no bsod iust freeze. Is my friends cpu really almost deam? i know there are TON of variables since hes windows or his new hdd was a bum. Its just a pitty to sell a friend my old rig and it went so wrong.
Btw i couldnt give my psu to him for a little while so he was using hes old psu like really old stuff but it didnt have theese problems.
Tommorow will be a lot of testing done to a simple windows reinstall all the way to a hardware swap. We didnt have time to do a real stability test but after 10 ibt runs it came out strong. But really there are just So many variabkes.. geez. i just want to hear your opinion on this where could be the problem and what would you reccommend me doing tommorow. Bare in mind i jusrlt cant swap out the cpu to test it sadly so its going to be little bit trickier.
When playing gta 4 and stuff he didnt have any problems but since bf3 64 man can be a big cpu hoog then im very suspecious of dieing cpu.from reaiding the text you might think of the psu failure but since that psu was a failure and cant power his gpu he didnt play bf3 etc. or enything intensive for that matter.

After like the first 8-9 sentences, your post is just garbled and difficult to follow. I'd be giving him the PSU that you originally had running the system, or at least test using it. That's assuming you removed it before selling the PC to him....your post is so unclear.

Idk man.. can't get past the garble.

Hah, Yeah, it was late at night and i was posting from a phone biggrin.gif
Btw, seems like a simple Windows reinstall fixed the issues, ***? How could it stop the bsod 101, i dont get it. Or it might be there only not came out, time will tell.
Or this bsod is not for vcore?

My guess is the overclock crashes the window. Try reduce the overclock to 3.4Ghz or the best is it's original clock with higher voltage (since it's an old CPU) and see if there are any problems.
