don't read too much into "marketing". i think anyone will tell you its more dependant on the cpu as the board to how high you can overclock it.
I watched an Asus presentation (posted above) and it's claimed that -A has slightly worse quality on basic components (such as VRMs) though they still claim it's adequate.
IMO, it appears -Plus is the better solution for a simple reason: They don't seem to cut anything in quality compared to their -Deluxe etc. models and just avoid features.
i.e. it sounds like an overkill getting anything better from that line since the quality is not better and you'll be avoiding having features you'll never use (e.g. 10 SATA ports)
