Just curious.

If we *assume* that these are binned chips from the same production line as the 8320/8350, does it follow that culling these *better* chips out means that the 8320/8350 shipping today will be lesser chips as compared to the ones the market has been seeing to date? Or perhaps AMD has been collecting these for some time until they accumulated a marketable quantity?

What criteria would binning be based on to differentiate 8320/8350/9370/9590, is it just stable frequency at a given voltage and power, with all other settings the same? Do we know exactly what differentiated a 8320 from a 8350 during production selection today?

In that case, another explanation could be that they are trying to do what Nvidia did - release two products of imperceptible difference at a huge difference in price, like with the Titan and the 780. But they needed to release 9590 much earlier than the 9370 to pull off that move. Otherwise I don't really see why anyone would buy a 9590 over a 9370 if there is no difference between them at all. Unless of course what I said about overclocking proves true.

Sounds like Intel's strategy of releasing chips every year that are ~10% more powerful than the one's released during the previous year. Only Intel does so by increasing performance per MHz (IPC?) and AMD is doing so by increasing the clock speed itself (dunno if performance per MHz is going to increase with 9590s over 8350s though).

The 9590 is an overclocked 8350 chip binned to ensure 4.7 / 5.0 ghz turbo, this is nothing like intel's approach. If intel released a 4770k at 4.5ghz, named it the "5890K" or something like that and charged 5 times the price of a 4770K, only then it would be similar to what AMD is doing with the 9590.

I'm sorry but what I meant by this move being similar to Intel's is the processor being only slightly faster than its previous generation. I understand your point, the thing is, this is NOT a new generation, it's a special edition of the Vishera Family (with pile driver cores). The only thing changed in these chips aside base clock/turbo is the TDP. That's why people are calling it for what it is, an overclocked 8350, binned to ensure specified clocks.
