Yeah but I meant almost the same or literally the same chips on higher clocked versions. At best, they provide a better cooler (which might still decrease life expectancy, though granter a bit less) or at most a slightly higher stepping of the chip that can't really be considered a new chip (e.g. 680->770).

Of course changing process and design is a different thing.

Processor degradation isn't something you're going to see on an OC'd chip in the life-span you use it, so long as you're not pumping a stupid amount of volts through it and keep it within it's thermal limits.

No, you pulled that out of a hat. I do not know if their architecture is same. They may be using special features in the S that kills it sooner.

If they don't and just clock it lower, how could you deny it doesn't last longer? It's basic laws of physics at work here.

Fatigue is simply a common occurrence on any human construction. The more you 'shake it' the less it lasts thumb.gifwink.gif
