They don't even give you barbs. AFAIK only Swiftech provide barbs with their blocks. You'll probably get a couple of stop fittings and maybe a couple of spacers
Not really, they'd have to put a pair of 3 or 4 different sized compressions and barbs in the box to cover all eventualities. Plus black ones, silver ones, etc.
It's a business, and that would cost them money. I'm sure a lot of people want a specific fitting and would not be happy to pay for a fitting they wouldn't even use.
I really don't understand. but I haven't touched my water system since i got it in 2009.
Here's my thinking.. We pay 100 pounds for a block, thats a lot of money, giving people the chance to assemble straight away just makes sense to me. like when you buy a case and it has all the accompanying parts and screws. being fair to the counter point of this.. yes it costs a little more, yes it might not fit.
Today I needed that fitting.. really guys.. im sick right now (for real) and the whining from my cards is.. *painful*. I have usable tubing.. and no money. I actually got a good deal on my two blocks..120 for both. but still can't use the blocks
Instead of starting a new thread.. I thought thats stupid all the info is here anyways..
Can anyone help me get the stuff I need to hook up my reserator (with slightly odd sized tubing) with the two blocks I have? .. I need to know what compression rings work and what doesn't. is there any little 'knick knacks' I am oblivious of?
rep offered. (once all is working) I have the cash to buy the rings right now so asap is best for me before I pay for something and end up broke.
Hmm... every single block, radiator, even reservoir I've ever owned has come with barbs.
Then again, I've never bought anything from EK. I seriously don't understand why they get so much praise. They release worse quality, uglier, and worse performing components than pretty much anyone else, but charge more for them. I guess it's true what they say - charge more than is reasonable for something, and people will assume it is actually superior.

Really? When was the last time you purchased any liquid cooling gear?
No manufacturer (apart from Swiftech) provides barb and they only do it for their CPU type water block, couple of reservoirs and some pumps. There is simply too much different tubing on the market to cover it all. It would be even harder to please everyone with the color of the fittings. Don't know how to break it down to you but majority of water cooling users doesn't use barbs anymore, it's 2013 and the trends have changed several times in the last two years, let alone five years.
I will ignore the second part of your post since it's utter garbage talk with no base whatsoever. Ignorance is bliss they say.

You're on EK's payroll. Obviously you aren't going to admit any fault in your own products.
Plenty of people still use barbs. In fact, there are many blocks where unless you want to use incredibly skinny tubes, you HAVE to use barbs due to compressions being too large to fit with the narrow spaced holes.
My last block purchase was the Alphacool block for my 680 Lightning. Came with a pair of barbs like everything else. Doesn't have any ugly circles. Cost less than the EK version, and doesn't have any poorly plated nickle to flake off. Oh, and just to rub it in, copper costs more than acrylic.
The EK block is the least expensive, and none come with fittings except the much more expensive EVGA that comes with ugly Swiftech compression fittings. I have never bought any water cooling gear that came with barbs, and nor would I want it to. They would not fit the tubing I use.
erm.. does anyone have an answer to this question though??
I've got a Zalman Reserator with the original tubing .. which doo-daads do I need to hook all of this up?
I can't change my tubing cos the whole system (cpu block to in out pipes) is set to this tubing. but I figure those rings look like I could squeeze the tubes on. but im super not sure.
any help would be appreciated.
.. and yes.. I think you should at least get a set of the things you need to connect it.. even if it was wrong.. its better than nothing. imo.

You're right, I meant aquacomputer and for whatever reason day alphacool instead. I posted right before I went to bed after being up for 2 days. That said, it did indeed come with a pair of barbs and two pairs of plugs
Now, why exactly are you showing my coolers for the Titan when I was talking about the 680 Lightning? Titan blocks don't fit reference 680s, and even reference 680s don't fit lightnings.
never in all my years of water cooling have i bought a part that actually came from the maker with barbs. Ive never bought a Swiftech block so if they do they are the odd one out.
Dont expect makers of blocks to just supply you with barbs because they don't own Chrystal balls.
all my watercooling parts that requires fittings come with it, because I order them at the same time if I need them
/problem
but really, its a bit unreasonable to expect fittings to come with the block. you have all these fittings to choose from nowadays, it would be a waste to include fittings when most people wont be using them.

With my Reserator I switched out all the Zalman fittings for 3/8"ID, 1/2"OD Compressions but other sizes would have worked. It was easier than trying to mix and match with the Zalman fittings.
