Intel rep: You will get frequent regular shipments after a few months. We plan to saturate the market so we are relying on you to get things going.

Intel rep: Here is our new recommended pricing structure. We have to really pick things up, so we plan do make massive price cuts after things settle down a bit. Don't worry, margins will still be high for us.

Intel rep: Got to run. I will fax you more info on any future changes.
OEM guy: But... (trips on a box of P4s as he runs after the Intel rep.)

*sigh*

This chip probably does suck. It won't OC for anything because lets face it, AMD have pushed the 90nm K8L as hard and as fast as it will go. If they dropped this down to 65nm, which they will - in time, then you can expect much better results. Think about it for a second. A dual core FX running at 3Ghz at stock voltage. Thats a pretty damned impressive feat, even for the chip manufactor. We pay god only knows how much for chips that will do that under phase, and they pulled it off with air. Good Job AMD. Take your time with 65nm, C2D already has the market so you might as well get it right.

On the other hand, Core 2 Duo is 65nm, has a lower TDP and _does_ perform better at stock and at overclocked speeds. I would think you guys realise that without ripping AMD a new one. IMHO, I think both AMD and Intel have done great jobs. AMD gets a thumbs up for getting where they are with 90nm and two thumbs up to Intel for realising that raw Ghz isn't the answer.

I do, however, think that AMD's developers really need to get a move on with Fusion. This is the only thing they have going for them at the minute and if they don't get it released within the next 18 months AMD can say bye bye to the entire CPU market, what with Intel upcoming price cuts.

If anyone has any critisisms of what I just wrote, I don't care, so don't flame me. I am entitled to my opinion, just as everyone and I don't expect to be strutenised for it.

Let's face it. There are many getting 3.0Ghz on good air with 90nm. 65nm at 3.0 is not even less than impressive. It is "No Change" or "Very, Very Little Change".
