Overclock set in bios - CPU running at stock in windows

Thread Starter

Hello all. Been playing around with getting a higher overclock on my i7, when I kind of gave up and loaded my profile for a stable 4.4Ghz OC up it all looked good in the bios. But when I booted into windows CPU-Z only showed my cpu going to 3.9Ghz turbo. Never had this happen before. I tried hitting load optimized defaults a few times and putting in all my settings again but to no avail. In bios it will show that the cpu turbo speed is 4400mhz, but in windows it never goes above stock. My motherboard is a Maximus V Gene. I do hope I posted this in the right section. Cheers to anybody who can helpĀ redface.gif

There's an Asus BIOS bug where once you make some number of changes it'll stop accepting new ones even though it looks like it does. So you'll think you changed it, but the change doesn't really take. Not sure if that is what is happening to you, but you can get around it by reflashing the BIOS (you can just reflash the current version, although some of the boards have new versions that fix the issue). You can save the profile on a USB drive so you don't lose all the settings.

I had this issue on my Gigabyte motherboard as well after I used Easytune, reflashed the bios and it has not given me a problem since.
