so...my 7870 got damaged and i had to RMA it. its coming back soon though

but i bought a 660 GTX to fill the void till then.

both are the same price and ive been considering adding another one for SLI/crossfire

which one would be the better one to keep? i dont care for physx that much and i have a corsair 850w psu and 2 case fans (like someone said i should do) so i think i can handle it

I would keep the 7870. More times than not it is faster than the GTX 660. Physx is pretty pointless IMO and all next gen consoles are running AMD APUs so driver optimization should be pretty good as well.

Here's a table full of info:

As a summary, they trade blows with each other in gaming. That said, with the amd card you also have openCL for extra gpu computing grunt. It's your choice though when it comes down to it.

By the way, your psu is way overkill. tongue.gif

this review says the 7870 in crossfire is a little iffy.

is there anymore sites with a review like that?

i got one in early 2009 along with a AMD 4850. killed my card and i didnt know it was the psu that caused the problem. after that i got mad and stopped gaming on this pc untill 2011 when deus ex was coming out, i bought a 460gtx(which i still own) to play it on my pc. it gave me the same problem and i did not know it was the PSU until i asked another forum and they said the PSU is complete crap.

a week later it killed an entire motherboard but i got a refund luckily.
