My USB's were broken so I have to keep them disconnected for the PC to work with error messages. However there is the possibility of it being my motherboard, although I need to get a new PSU for them to test it.

Did the usb ports become defective by themselves? If so then i would rma the board if its still under warranty.

Yeah they did, the repair technician said that I need a new PSU for them to actually see if the MOBO has been shorted or is somehow faulty.

A pc technician should be able to test the psu themselves or use a spare one to test the motherboard instead. I would still rma the board though.
