Seagate, grrrr

#@%& Seagate. About three months ago I had two of their HDs die. They were both bought in the same purchase and literally died together. They werent even the same size so they couldnt have come off the same production line. But magically they died together after less than three years. Now another just died. This one was ironically bought about six months after the other two. Ive never had such a bad stretch with any PC company, ever. It seems like, in my book, Seagate has a time bomb in their HDs. I know thats not true, but its pretty uncanny that I have had three (the only three) drives bought within six months of each other die within three months. The first two I could deal with at least, most of the data was recoverable when the faulty HD was inserted into a system as a secondary HD. This one? Not so great, every worthwhile file was so damaged the HD hit my garbage can. I saved some crap from my pictures folder, and some game saves, and thats it. Im happy to say Ive moved on to Raptors, but I hope Im not eating those words in about six months.

Sorry to vent but man, this sucks. And none of my friends care about PCs lol

Are they getting any airflow? Hard drives can get too hot and die quickly if your case is poorly setup. Also bad power supplies with lots of voltage dropouts have been know to harm hard drives. It does seem strange you've had so many failures so quickly. Perhaps the store you buy from mishandles them too... all possibilities.

My case does have good airflow, my HD pretty much sits alone in space, and my PSU is good. The three drives were bought from two diff places, but I cant really say for sure on how they were handled before I got them. For the record, Ive never had a single HD die except for these three. Thats it, period.
