Update II - 07/16/2013 - A Game For Two?
This update ended up happening a lot later than I had planned it but here it is. This update is a minor one showcasing the waterblocks, coolant and fittings... It's just that I haven't exactly cleaned the parts from Nardis yet to the point that I can showcase them, so only one of the Xeons will get some love today
Well, I currently have all of the parts needed to power the system and cool it properly *cough* ov3rk1ll *cough*. So here they are...
Not really that much to see here eh?...
Okay, moving on we've got the fittings. I wanted some EK fittings but they were not in stock at the shop I wanted to buy them from -- this was initially the cause of the delay btw. In the end I just went with different fittings at another shop because Hukkel again saved the day by pointing me towards a shop that had a 30% discount on an EK Supremacy. Yeah, who doesn't absolutely love discounts?
I couldn't wait opening all of the boxes, so there is the box with an EK Supremacy inside in the background
I actually bought the other Supremacy 6 months back for Nardis so this felt a bit repetitive, but since I never created a build log for Nardis I though, why not showcase this piece of art ?
First we have the included mounting kit for various sockets
And the block itself -- it was originally sealed
Still can't get enough of that frosted effect . I'm glad my man ElementR adviced this block when I did my first loop -- inb4 CSQ haters
Also, so damn easy to mount (that's what he said )
Step 1 - Find the correct 4 thumb screws for LGA-2011 and place some washers on them, and screw them directly in the LGA-2011 socket holes
Step 2 - Place block on top
Step 3 - Place 4 springs over the screws
Step 4 - Fasten the block by using the 4 thumbscrews
For me, being lazy, this alone would make me want to watercool everything
The Xeon in socket 1 needs some love ...
So now I have a query to ask you guys. I've got multiple options as far as coolant goes but I'm not sure anymore which direction I should head after seeing the real deal.
Basically, I have this as base but I could also go with this
First I was thinking of making gray -- obviously the cup is too small to properly mix colors so it can be made brighter in the loop
But I could also go with a very light shade of blue -- again I can make this brighter in the loop
So what will it be gents: A, B or C?
In any case, this is the end of this update. I hope to have the next update done this week but again I won't make promises
Thanks for reading !
