And if you're an Intel fanboy and a few of you are whether you wanna believe it or not, then you getting your panties in a bunch is just feeding the PR wagon, good or bad. If you're an AMDer then you need to stop looking at this as some new release or another opportunity at Intel's dominance. And on the topic of good or bad: If you look at it this way, even with bad PR from this chip If steamroller does do well it will look like superman, if not then it is what you expected, congratulations.

  1. Its not for records sake.
  2. Its purely for PR.
  3. Its a stupid waste of time when instead of taking the time to bin a chip, they could've devoted more time to developing and improving their next generation.
  4. And what Derp said wasn't unnecessary. You can be an Intel fanboy, or you can be an AMD fanboy. Its still a gigantic piece of crap that is improperly binned, a waste of time, and a laughingstock of PR.
  5. A lot of PR that is bad can turn against you, just look at the Xbox One.

I'm not even looking at this from a fanboy perspective of both sides of the equation either. I like my AMD as much as I like my Intel. What DOES need to happen is that you and a few other people do need to realize how much of an absolute waste of time this chip is, and stop trying to defend it.

Did you even see the results? Its worse than i7 2600k.

The 8350 is already equal to better than the i7-2600k so I don't see how the same chip with a 20% overclock can be worse.

On a lighter note the FX9590 has better performance than a 5 year old i7-920

Less science, moar coars.

I think you mean $349 Haswell. And then you're talking about overclocking, which isn't exactly fair since we don't know how much headroom these chips will have, and on top of that you're taking a number (4.7GHz) for Haswell that is considerably above the average.

I'm sure you know that when you leave voltage on "auto" it can get a little out of whack. Maybe more than a little.

You do realize that 1.45v is the stock VID for the 8350's 4.2GHz turbo, right? Though almost all Visheras can do 4.2 with 1.4 or less. AMD has gotten a reputation for leaving their parts heavily overvolted by default so they can actually sell some of the few crappy ones that actually need that voltage and maximize yields/profits, especially after Llano (I got a 50% overclock out of mine on STOCK VOLTAGE).

http://anandtech.com/show/6985/choosing-a-gaming-cpu-at-1440p-adding-in-haswell-/4

Add up how many benches the 8350 wins vs how many it loses, and you'll quickly realize it is not equal to or better than a 2600K, especially when you take into account the 2600K overclocks to 4.5+ easily.

In the gaming benches, you'll have to look for the CPU bound benches, since GPU bound scenarios are pointless when comparing CPU's.

I think he's talking about his own Score is better on cinebench.

I've seen 8.6 as low as 4.6ghz. for FX.

all about tuning IMO.

I wish someone would benchmark with a real renderer. Maxwell and Vray would be the best way to test. Benchwell comes with Maxwell now so it should be easy enough for benchmarkers to run.

I would also like to point out that I know this is way too expensive, but I am actually impressed by the temperature.

I wonder if he would let me take a peek at his settings for an 8.6 score at that clock?

Starting a war of cherry picked reviews gets nobody anywhere, but whatever.

Can we agree that, for argument's sake, Ivy's IPC advantage over Sandy is around 7% on average? And on top of that, the 3770k has a 3% clock speed advantage over the 2600k.

If you do the math, in this review, the 8350 is about 10% behind the 3770k.

That would mean it's just about equal to the 2600k.

I have read more conclusive reviews on this matter but I can't find them at this point in time.

Funny joke. On topic, I could see a $1000 price tag as justifiable if the performance was there or if it was an early preview of Steamroller.

I don't use Linux, and neither do 95% of users.

You stated "The 8350 is already equal to better than the i7-2600K", which is simply not true.

Instead of guessing numbers, in Linux benchmarks which most people have never heard of, why don't you pick a review that compares BOTH processors like I did? Clearly, the 8350 was not faster in single or multi-thread, even with its 4 GHZ stock clocks.

No need to start a flame war, facts are facts.

So let us look at some facts:

Intel beats FX in performance
FX beats Intel in price

Reality: This processor removes the only advantage AMD had in their battle against Intel.

Anyone arguing past this or saying anything else is (not borne out by facts) and that is that. The topic should always be within the confines of both processors advantages and how they play out.

Final point: This processor is trash for the amount you pay. Get a 3930k and call it a day.
