Need help: GPU clicking noise while gaming. - Page 2

You can try spraying sprayglue on any copper coils you see to fix them and prevent the coils from resonating. I know this works for halogen spot travos (ac/dc dimmers)...might work for smaller coils too.

Hey Threx.
What kind of card?(fill in sig)
I can imagine a copper trace against insulating material-expand w/current, retract without?
Clicking may be from a capacitor (a bad/going bad one)
Great question!

The card is Inno3D GTX 660 iChill Herculez
http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/inno3d_geforce_gtx_660_herculez_ichill_review,2.html

Like I said, it's definitely not the fans. =/

I'm pretty sure it's not coil whine either. I know the sound of coil whine, which is a high-pitched screech. This is a fast clicking noise. It could be some kind of capacitor or something going bad, but I've only had the card for a few months, though.

I don't have photoshop installed so I haven't tested if the noise occurs while rendering, but I imagine it would since it happens during any kind of GPU stress such as gaming and benchmarks (Unigine, Furmark, etc.).

That's a coil whine. There is no way that it is the fan.

Coil whine sound varies, from high pitched noise to low buzz. My gtx 680 does the same.

Hi there,

i have the exact same problem with a Radeon Matrix platinum 7970. It's already the 2nd Card, which does this clicking while gaming. And i already changed the Motherboard and Psu, still clicking...

it's not from the fans..
it does not Sound like coilwhine...
it's fps related - low fps, low clicking frequency, high fps, high clicking frequency

any new thoughts / suggestions?

@Threx: did you find a solution already?

thx in advance!

Inductor noise. Also usually clicks faster/louder depending on FPS (AKA power consumption)

Thanks for the answer!
So, is inductor noise different from coil whine? And, is it bad for the gpu?
The main reason why this confuses me a bit is: i put my old gpu, Radeon 5700, in the pc today and it also did that clicking Sound.. now i have 3 Cards here which are all clicking under stress while gaming but i cannot find alot of Informationen about that clicking on the net. or how to fix it.

but i'll start a Google tour aroung "inductor noise" now and see what i'll be able to come up with..
