Intro

Hey everyone! This is going to be the log for the modifications I did to my computer case. For anyone interested, this case was used in my Rig Build log (You can find it here). I've put a lot of time, love, and effort into this mod, and despite being my first entry into custom cases and mods, I think many of you will like it. So, without further adieu, bring on the description, the lists, and the pictures!

Description

So, back in May I decided to rebuild my computer. There were several factors why I wanted to rebuild, all of which you can read more about at my Rig Build Log (Post in the Introduction), but I knew that this time around I would do something unique, extraordinary, and - above all else - cool. I knew I wanted to mod my Phantom, but I wasn't sure what exactly to do. So I began researching the possibilities. I found hundreds of modded out cases (Many of which on OCN), and I drew inspiration from many of them. While the implementation and fabrication of the mods in my phantom were all original, I'd like to just make it be known that a lot of the credit for the ideas ought to go out to some of my best friends, posters on several anonymous image boards, and, most importantly, several OCN members.

List of Changes

note: changes that have been completed have asterisks next to them

  • Replace the large drive cage with the small one (*)
  • Attach a white acrylic shroud in front of the PSU
  • Change the LEDs on the front panel
  • Cut out a portion of the door and insert mesh (*)
  • Replace most of the original mesh with black acrylic sheets
  • Remove the fan controller's decals
  • Install a custom-fabricated lighting system (*)
  • insert silencing foam under the powersupply (*)
  • Stealth the SSD behind the MoBo tray (*)
  • Attach an altered NZXT fan grill to the side of the drive cage (*)

While it may seem that many of the modifications have yet to happen, most of the unfinished mods are tertiary in nature and are not vital to the overall aesthetics of the mod.

Pictures

I will upload my mod's pictures sometime around 6 tonight Uploaded now. However, I will include some "before" shots (Courtesy of NZXT's Website; pls don't sue ;_;).

Cable Management anyone?

HDD Cage Swapped out for smaller cage

NZXT Fan grill attachment - perfect for the aesthetics

Only thing not pictured was the PSU foaming, as that would require me taking out my PSU - Something I don't feel like doing for one little picture of a tertiary modification.

Thanks! Please comment and vote, I'd love to hear any and all feedback.

Modding the front door

The mod for the door was pretty easy. I was mentored by EpicAMDGamer who gave me a lot of guidance with the whole project.

What I did was I made a template of the open hole in the middle layer of the door. I cut that exact template out of the white front, and then cut out an appropriately sized piece of mesh. The meshing came from the stock side panel, as I had swapped that out for a side panel with a window installed.
