How good is NZXT Phantom 410 in terms of reliabilty, durability and build quality?

Thread Starter
Hello lads, i want to buy a case for a new rig, but in my country there are not good models in sale, therefore i'm goin to pay expensive shipping from amazon.com to my own country. So i can't alow me to buy a case that eventually get problems, malfunctions or fall apart because i wound't be able to fix the case or buy a replacement components, neither RMA without bear even higher costs of reshipping.

with that said, i was checking the NZXT Phantom 410; is cheap and it's looks gorgeous, have decent airflow and is quite silent, however, according to anandtech has awfull cable managment, and is hard to build in, also says that he got a defective fan control, just i like a read in some reviews of buyers.

My other concern is about the materials quality, steel looks thin and there are a lot of plastic around, ok this is a not a problem at all if the plastic is actually high quality and won't brake easily. Then also, it doesn't include dust filters, in my house come in a lot dust everyday, and even if i clean it every month, i fear the plastic may brake with too many pop out and pop in. Rest of the case is perfect, have a good amount of nice features the the window for a low price.

Others models that i was checking also, is the Corsair 540 (E-ATX, excelent airflow, very loud, not sure about materials quality), the storm trooper (E-ATX, Excelente build quality where i can see, almost like a tank, silent, and excelent good airflow, but not window), storm scout 2, and so others.

BTW i plan to make a system based on Haswell and 2 GTX 780 in sli, and next year buy another one for tri sli.

I find the build quality of the Phantom 410 just awful. The plastic is glossy and tacky, the metal is thin, the general feel of the case is "Cheap and cheerful"

Grab yourself a Corsair 540 and have some fun.

I recently did a build in the 410 and its definitely one of the nicest cases I've worked it, my ONLY criticism is that the front door was abit crap.

Was VERY easy to cable manage and get a very clean looking result. Very silent too.

Nice little build there Cyph3r thumb.gif

Personally i have built two systems with Phantom 410's ( both White ) and they have been a pleasure to work with. The cable management in these cases is really good, so i fail to see how anandtech could reach a conclusion like that unless they are incompetent or blind. Cooling is great for sure but you are right some case's do ship with faulty fan controllers , however it is worth noting that if you do order the case and have a faulty fan controller NZXT will ship you a replacement working one ( Free shipping too afaik ). They can be slow to respond sometimes but NZXT are quite good for faulty replacements.

I have moved onto a NZXT switch 810 ( i still have another 410 under my desk), and i have to say i like NZXT products and would recommend them to anyone. I think with any case you buy it will be hard to be 100% happy with it, but that's my opinion. I say go for it , they are great little cases, and i think there is even a 410 club here on OCN if you want to get some advice or look at some other builds. In fact here you go >>

I also have this case and its fantastic, Cable management is actually very easy and it has plenty of room behind the motherboard tray, also comes with 2 120mm fans and a 140mm so the airflow isn't too bad either (With stock fans) Very easy to build in also, this was my first build and i had no problems at all. If you have any queries or problems you can just ask in the 410 owners club (Its in my signature) And you will get helped by other owners biggrin.gif
