Is the Coolermaster Hyper 212 still the king of value?

Thread Starter
Had an AIO watercooling unit rupture on me a few days ago, taking out my mobo with it.

Going back to air, but not sure what the scene is these days. Is the 212 still the king of value, and the D14 the best overall?

212 is usually a good price-to-performance cooler but it does now have many other competing with it.. +/- 3c
Lots of good coolers in the £25-30.00 range.

Enermax T40
Matterhorn Pure
True Spirit 120 / 20M
True Spirit 140
Macho 120

NH-D14 is still one of the best but again, there are many others as good as a few slightly better now.. +/- 3c
Alpenfohn K2
BeQuiet! Dark Rock Pro 2
Phanteks PH-TC14PE
Noctua NH-U14S
Silver Arrow SB-E, SB-E Extreme, SB-E SE
Archon SB-E X2
Silverstone Heligon SST-HE01

And there are more of both. wink.gif

The SB-E Extreme actually performs a fair few c better than the NH-D14, but it's also alot louder.

Only if you run the fans at high speed. I'm using TY-143 fans on 2 systems; i7 920 @ 3.55GHz under SA SB-E Extreme and i7 980 under Phanteks PH-TC14PE. Both idle 25-29c @ 700rpm and stress test 45-50c @ 1000rpm.. whisper quiet. But yes, if you crank them up to 2500rpm they do make a fair bit of noise. biggrin.gif
But no louder (+1dBA) than H100 and 7c cooler.
