Harddrive Problem.

I've recently purchased a new MB/CPU/RAM combo, but once I finished installing everything I had troubles actually booting into the HDD!
No power would get to the HDD at all and I was unable to get past the bios or cd boot, I switched all the cables around from the CD to the HDD but had no luck.

I have the Model : SAMSUNG HD502HJ
Firmware : 1AJ100E4

Then I booted into bios, had a look around and couldn't find anything, at this point i was getting extremely frustrated, I took off the side panels and had a look at the HDD while it was still on, I took out the SATA cable then the power cable to the HDD, I first plugged the power cable back into the HDD straight after and for some unknown reason it powered up? I then proceeded to plug in the SATA cable and it was still working! I then exited the bios and continued to boot into the CD and formatted the HDD and carried on, at this point I thought the problem was solved until I SHUT DOWN the pc and tried to boot it up again, ran into the same problem and did the exact same thing and it started to work again! So I tested stand by, pc same thing, had to pull out the power cable to get it to work again, then I tried the RESTART option, which worked fine!

My question is, what on earth is going on? I never had this problem on my old system before!

TL:DR Problems with HDD, will work if I take of the power cable n sata cable leading to the HDD then plugging the power cable in followed by the sata cable whilst in bios, will continue to work unless I shut down my pc. HELPPPPP :<<br />
Thank you!

Insert OS cd, and repair boot. In fact, in most cases, you have to reinstall if you get new CPU, mobo, Ram, things of that nature.

I've reformatted as stated already, I'm currently typing this from the PC with the problem. Everything runs fine until I shut down as stated frown.gif

Managed to find a old laptop HDD lying around, which is SATA. Managed to boot up just fine on that, I assume it's time to get a new HDD? Any idea what could of caused my HDD to go wrong?
