As a heads up, I would suggest that you refrain from speaking to other members like this. I see nothing which indicates that Shilka did or said anything to you, or to anyone else, that deserves anywhere near that kind of a response. Please, treat others with respect, this is a public forum and as such, the quality of the forum as a whole is entirely dependent upon the quality of its members.

You are relatively new to the forum, but please be aware that this is not the same kind of place as, umm, some "other popular computer forums"; this is a community, and we succeed because we all are genuinely interested in helping fellow members. Making personal attacks or implying that a user doesn't know what he's talking about, especially someone who has spent the time to build up a reputation and is generally regarded as a well informed individual on the topic at hand, is going to result in a short and unpleasant stay here for you, and I do not want that.

If you disagree with something someone says, please by all means, say so! However, if you cannot do so without maintaining a respectful and polite attitude, then it would be best that you simply refrain. Unlike many forums, OCN is a place where quality truly matters over quantity, and we get so many threads just like this ("Help me?!" threads) because of that reputation.

Thread Starter
My PC now blue screens at what appears to be random times. Sometimes it happens when I'm using the internet or it happens right as my computer starts up, but now it does it as I log into Windows 7. The blue screen says INTERRUPT_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED at the top and at the bottom it says STOP: 0x0000003D. I also have my OS installed on my SSD.

I'm guessing it may be to do with my drivers. My bios version is old and I think I haven't got the latest drivers on some things. My PC only started getting the BSOD after I took it to PC world and I installed my new PSU...

I've tried startup repair - that fails

Last known good configuration - that blue screens right after

I've been trying to figure out how to re install my windows 7 but I can't figure it out....

Before this BSOD I was also getting the c210000a fatal system error BSOD, which I think means I need to reinstall windows?

I need a new PSU, ideally not a corsair from now on, I want a PSU that is actually good I'm willing to spend up to £200 on it. Please make sure it will work with my set-up below, and also will I need an 850w considering I do eventually want to do upgrades to this set up?

CPU - Intel Sandybridge i5-2500k 8MB Cache, Socket 1155)

GPU - Asus AMD Radeon HD 7970 Graphics Card (3GB, GDDR5, HDMI, DVI-I, PCI-Express 3.0)

RAM – Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 8GB 1600MHz CL9 DDR3 Vengeance Memory Two Module Kit

CPU COOLER - Thermalright - CPU Heatsink Kit - 2x 140mm PWM Fan - Silver Arrow

MOBO - ASUS P8Z68 - v pro/gen3

HDD - Western Digital WD1002FAEX Caviar Black 1 TB 7200 RPM Internal Hard Disk Drive

SSD - Crucial CT128M4SSD2 128GB M4 SSD

CASE - COOLER MASTER RC-932-KKN5-GP HAF 932 Advanced MicroATX/ATX/E-ATX Full Tower Case (Black)

OS - Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium

PSU – Should I still get an 850w with this setup (possible upgrades in future)

MONITOR - Samsung S24A300H 23.6 inch Widescreen LED Monitor (MEGA DCR, 1920 x 1080 Full HD, 2ms, HDMI/VGA)

DISC DRIVE - LiteOn IHAS224-19 Lite-On 24x DVD-RW LightScribe SATA

Thanks!

well, like others have said... why in the world would you even need a 850w? especially something as high quality as an AX? I know you might not think the AX is good right now, but fact is 1 bum unit doesn't make the entire line bad biggrin.gif

to USE anywhere near a high quality 850w PSU... you NEED to be running at least a tri-fire of that 7970. and that's not happening till you get at least a few 1440p or higher resolution monitors to justify that much GPU power biggrin.gif don't get me wrong, you have a decent rig, but you are a LONG way from needing something as powerful as an AX850 or equivalent quality PSU smile.gif

just eyeballing what you are using right now, i'd say it's unlikely you'll need anything more powerful then an AX650 within the next 5 years or longer. unless you win the lotto and just want to p155 money away for no reason, you will likely not go above a pair of "titan class" GPU in your next build. which CAN be handled by something like an AX650.

i don't really know how you went about troubleshooting your system that gave you the conclusion that the AX850 is at fault. but if it IS in fact the AX's fault, i'd look into RMA or sending corsairgeorge a PM to see if there is anything he can do for you. it's not impossible that you got a bum AX, but it's highly unlikely since corsair is pretty tight on their quality checks for their flagship product line smile.gif
