First build feedback: Mini ITX Gaming Build

Hello, long time lurker here

This is my first build which I'll be intending to bring overseas when I go to university, hence the mITX small form factor. I mainly play BF3 hence why the Nvidia GPU. My budget is ~$1000, minus the monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

CPU
Intel Core i5-4670K

Motherboard
ASRock Z87E-ITX

RAM
G.Skill RipJawsX F3-12800CL9D-8GBXM 2x4GB 1600Mhz, 9-9-9-24, 1.35V

Case
Silverstone SST-SG08B Mini ITX Desktop Case w/600W Power Supply

GPU
GTX770-DC2OC-2GD5

I already have an Intel 510 2.5"SSD and a Samsung F4 2TB 3.5" HDD which I intend to use for storage purposes. My uni's Dreamspark program covers the Windows 8 OS, and I'll be purchasing the peripherals: mouse, monitor and keyboard overseas.

I chose to get the 4760K + Z87 chipset mobo since I'm open to the possibility of overclocking in the future, though I might require an aftermarket CPU cooler. Ideally I'd have liked to wait for the NCase M1 and more alternative Z87 chipset motherboards to be available, but I intend to have this build completed within this month.

My primary concerns are the weight; the SG08B already weighs ~7kg with the attached PSU. If anyone has a similar rig, could you chime in on the portability/weight of your setup? Also, any general feedback about the build would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers!

If you're really worried about the weight you could get an SG05/06 not sure the 770 would fit tho... some versions of it should.
Fitting the 3.5 HDD in might be difficult but it should be doable .

The SG08 only 6kg, and over 1kg of that is the 10mm brushed aluminium front panel. If weight is a concern, then the SG07 has a thin aluminium + plastic front panel and is only 5kg. The PSU is probably about 1.5kg, so you're looking at around 3.5kg for the rest of the case.

The SG05, 06, 07 and 08 are made from cold rolled steel. In principle steel is much denser than aluminium, but it's stronger. Similar sized aluminium cases will be lighter, but if you are transporting the case a lot, steel may be a better choice. Can't be sure because they don't do crash tests with PC chassis.

Apart from that, the components are going to weigh the same whatever case you put them in smile.gif
