Samsung S27A850D vs Dell U2713HM

Hello , I'd like to make a simple question. Would you buy today (July 2013) a 27 inch monitor without hdmi connector?

I'm on the market for a 27" 2560x1440 monitor and I like both the Samsung S27A850D and the Dell U2713hm. The Samsung is about 100$ cheaper in my country, and I like it, but it has only 2 dvi and 1 display port connectors and no hdmi, which seems to be a new standard or must have. The Dell is OK for me, but as I said is more expensive.

What would you do? Is it the HDMI so important? I wish the Samsung had it, then I would get it with no (?) doubt.

Thanks for your comments in advance.

Don't worry, HDMI is pretty much irrelevant if you only plan to use it as a PC monitor.

If you're planning to maybe plug a console or something else into it as well, the hdmi might come in handy, but even then you can just grab a hdmi-to-dvi cable off the shelf at your local electronics store.

If you do buy a dvi-to-hdmi cable though, make sure it can push 1440p at 60Hz, most of the HDMI cables I had lying around couldn't, though with the latest standard it should be possible.

For what it's worth, I've got the Dell, and I'm really happy with it, it's the most solid monitor I've ever had the pleasure of owning.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, an adapter is always possible, but who knows if it can run at full resolution. I think premium monitors like these should have all the connectors, maybe this Samsung it's getting a little old, it was released in late 2011. The Dell is newer and seems a better option. Did you noticed any backlight bleeding issues in your Dell? It's a topic over the reviews

None whatsoever, thoroughly tested my monitor for all known/common issues as soon as I received it, but it was flawless smile.gif

If you're interested in getting a 1440p 27" monitor, I can fully recommend it. Back when I got it, I wrote a review on it as well, you can find it here:
