Add TBS, Survival, Horror, Racing, Coop, and just Multiplayer and Simulators in general to that list. While console exclusives are limited to sports games, family games, JRPGs, sidescrollers, and a few mediocre 3rd person action adventure games. PC is by far my favorite platform for exclusives, and some multiplatform games might as well be exclusives due to mods.
There's just much more creativity and quality to be found on PC, if you know where to look. There have been serious advancements in the last 8+ years. I began gaming in the mid to late 90s, and most of my favorite games were released in the last 6 years.
You might be disappointed by The Witcher 2, especially if you're an old school RPG gamer. It's like a console RPG: really dumbed down, and does away with most RPG mechanics. People have forgotten that RPG stands for "Role-Playing Game", and The Witcher games don't have much role-playing.
You can't really define Geralt's personality. Gameplay wise, there's only one style/one class to play. Story wise, it doesn't have many decisions to make, and both decisions and dialogue choices made throughout the game have very little impact. Dialogue choices don't really change anything about other characters either. Importing a save from the first game makes like two minuscule changes and nothing more. The story just hardly reacts to the player. Some RPG!
If you haven't played the first and/or read the novels/watched the television series, you won't be familiar with the lore or story. Sure TW2 was a PC exclusive for a little while, but it sure as hell doesn't feel like one. It's as linear as a console game, with invisible walls everywhere. It also binds too many functions to one key, as if it were a console game designed for a controller.
The linearity and lackluster mouse/keyboard support are all easy to look past, but once you do, it's obvious that it's an overrated (but still very good) game, for the reasons stated above that. CDPR and The Witcher are not the PC gaming messiah that they are said to be. There is nothing distinctive or unique about The Witcher games, they don't really give PC special treatment. Mod support is little, and it took them forever to release mod tools for TW2. The second quote in my sig sums it up.Edited by boredgunner - 7/7/13 at 5:09pm
