560 TI won't work help!

Thread Starter
My MSI 560 TI stopped working after 1 year of usage. Has anyone ever encountered this problem before? A week ago my video card kept dying out of no where. I would have to manually unplug and plug the video card on the motherboard. Finally yesterday I think I smelt some burning like smell around my computer. A couple hours later my video card died for good. I don't know if my motherboard GPU socket is broken or something but I tried putting my old video card and it worked normally. I then tried my 560 TI to my old computer and it booted up normally. What could be the problem guys? Please help!

My motherboard is ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3

Your post is a little confusing. Your 560ti works in another PC and an older GPU works in your PC but the 560ti and your mobo wont work together? You could try looking for burnt traces or any burnt marks in general on your mobo and GPU. Is your GPU under warranty?

Yes, my 560 TI and my mobo will not work together. I do see some dark mark on my GPU. But why would it work on my old computer but not my new mobo? =/. I think I do have warranty on it. Since its the weekend I can't check.

I also didn't fully check if my 560 TI works on my old computer. I just plugged it in and booted it up and saw that the fans on the 560 were working so I assumed it would work normally.

It would probably be a good idea to run some GPU benchmarks on your 560ti on your older PC. Sounds bad but it would be good if 560ti fails during the benchmark and you find where your problem is, and hopefully you have a good warranty so you can get your problem solved. Hope its not other components in your good PC.

Bumping thread with some updates, hopefully someone will be able to help or have some input.

So I'm pretty sure my 560 TI is not dead. I think the problem lies on my motherboard or my PSU, what do you guys think? I tested my 560 TI on my old computer and the fans came on. I can't test if it works properly because I don't have 6 pin connectors no my old computer.

So I borrowed my friends 6870 to use and everything was working flawlessly until about 2 weeks after where the exact same problem I had with the 560 TI. The video card just shut down but everything else on my computer would work properly. Everytime this happend I would have to wiggle around my video card on my motherboard connector and sometimes it would turn on but most times it won't. Could it possibly be either my video card isn't connecting to the motherboard properly or is it because my psu is to weak? I have a 520 High current gamer power supply. I am going to have to take out my motherboard out of my computer case to test this properly as I believe my computer case is causing problems with my video card connecting to my motherboard because it doesn't seem like the video card is connecting all the way through to the motherboard. I wanted to post this here first before I remove it. Any help or input would be great. Sorry for my bad english if you guys didn't understand.

I have a haf 912 case and asrock extreme 3 gen 3 motherboard if anybody was wondering.

Have you tried different PCI slots on your MOBO?
