First Water Cooling Build Parts List

Thread Starter
I'm trying to cool an overclocked i5-3570k and an overclocked 7870 myst (soon to be two of them crossfired). After doing a lot of research this is what I came up with, feel free to tell me things you would change, if I'm overpaying etc.

Swiftech "eXtreme Performance" Quad 120mm Radiator ($83.95): http://www.performance-pcs.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=59_457_667_674&products_id=31352
-Already have a bunch of CM Sickleflow 120mm fans, so I'll probably use them
-I need tubing but I'm not sure what brand or how much I should order
-Also need hose clamps and heatsinks for vrm chips

Thanks in advance

Looks like a pretty good list. I see you have a nice theme going on there thumb.gif

Make sure you have enough fittings though, you're ordering 8 and you'll need 10 for that list.

That's a pretty big rad. Are you sure you can fit it?

If you're just using distilled water, you don't need to worry a whole lot about which tubing you pick. Get a good quality tubing, but don't worry to much.

Good call, forgot to include the rad because it wasn't in the cart. It's going in a custom desk keyboard case that I'm in the process of making, here's a few pictures:

I originally bought an h100i, but decided I wanted to do a custom loop instead but it's mocked up in these pictures.

So I'm planning to put the rad on the top of the desk underneath the monitor stand, behind where the book is in the picture. And then just run the tubing under the desk and through the back of the case.

-I was thinking about trying the Mayhem Aurora additive, but people have been having problems with it building up in places and it even says not to use it daily. So i've been looking for something similar to run through that wont cause issues

Looks like it's coming along pretty good!

I'd definitely avoid the Aurora, not because it's bad, but because it isn't mean to be run in an everyday system. I'm not sure if there is anything else on the market that will do what the Aurora does and last in a system.

You might want to go with a better GPU water block. Thats all I can really see.

Thanks! It's my first custom build and it's turning out better than I had anticipated. It would've been done already but USPS lost 3 of my packages mad.gif so I'm waiting on that to get resolved. It's really a bummer about the Aurora, when I first saw a video of it in a loop I was determined to have it in my system. Then I started doing some research and reality kicked in...Either way I'm definitely going to add some kind of green colored additive into the loop eventually

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think a standard 7870 block will fit on my card since it has the tahiti architecture. I searched it and only found one post that said that they had tried it, but they also said the 79xx series block wouldn't work either.

I've been doing some research and it seems that the sickleflow is a terrible fan for radiator use. Does anyone have any recommendations for my rad at around $10/fan? Noise isn't a big issue to me
