Back when trim broke with 12.5 or something drivers, it was easy to notice because that "freeze" didn't occur.

Interesting, on an M4 too? Is that an OS drive?

To confirm, with a 520, with either the Intel SSD Toolbox, or the Windows 8 SSD Optimize feature, you click the Optimize/Start button. It takes several seconds to complete, but then displays "100%", and is done. Close the Optimize Window or Toolbox. After that is when the partial freeze occurs with the 520.

If you then immediately try to open Windows Explorer on the 520, it starts but you see the green progress bar at the top of the Explorer window slowly progress across the top. It takes about a minute to complete and then is fine.

Hmm, just tried this on a RAID 0 of two 520's in Windows 8. It did not freeze at all after the Windows 8 Optimize. This is on a Z87 board, IRST 12.5.0.1066. I know I have seen this happen in the past.

I use an M4 as a storage drive on this PC, just ran Windows 8 Optimizer on it, and it finishes in two seconds, with no freezing at all.

TRIM broken in IRST 12.5? Never heard that one, but you were not 100% sure, correct? I know Intel has removed IRST 12.6 from their download pages, and I had issues with RAID 0 arrays when I used 12.6, that does not happen with 12.5. I have 12.6 on another PC with a single 520 as the OS drive, and I know I saw the temporary freezing on that PC. 12.6 is not flaky with non-RAID drives... or is it?

What version of IRST are you using?

eBombzor, what version of IRST are you using?

Ok I just secure erased my SSD and re-installed the OS but there wasn't any difference. I didn't manually install INF drivers this time or MEI.

All of my drivers are up to date.

I am using the latest WHQL driver on stationdrivers (12.6.3.1000)
