The old Phenom IIs and Core 2 Quads still compete competitively with AMD's newest line-up if they're overclocked quite decently. Don't underestimate those chips. Now, they won't outpace an overclocked FX-8000 series, but they will be in the range of the AMD 6000s or so. Still quite decent. With the games listed, I would just throw in a new GPU (560ti-660ti or AMD 7850-7870 (max)), and overclock that tri-core cpu, if you have decent cooling. You can even try unlocking its 4th core. thumb.gif

You should really list your most flexible budget though.. as it's vague. E.G., "I wish to spend X dollars, but would really like to keep it under Y dollars." That way you will have more guided and potentialy helpful answers. With that said, your signature rig looks decent enough... So it appears you know what you're doing either way. thumb.gif

I would agree that a phenom ii 965 would be the best and cheapest upgrade on that set up. a 650 ti boost is faster then a gtx 560 but not worth the $140. You could then use the money saved to get an ssd which will seriously improve overall computer performance.

WOW and simcity are very cpu dependent and i doubt you will see an improvement in performance with the 650 ti boost with the current tri-core athlon.

Another idea though. You could sell the current cpu motherboard and ram and then use all the money to buy a new cpu motherboard and ram from intel or amd.
