MSI GX70 with two ddr2-1866 SODIMM's

Before I start, this laptop is very attractive to me for 2 reasons. I use OpenCL often, and I am also a gamer. That being said I was wondering if the performance of this laptop has been tested with 2 sticks of 1866 memory. All suppliers are shipping it with 8GB of 1600 memory on one dimm... To me that sounds like a giant bottleneck which could be the reason why this particular laptop gets less than stellar results.

Of course the other option would be to get a laptop that has a haswell solution with a 7970m or 8970m. I can't seem to find any, but i'm sure there is someone here that would know where to find it if it exists. THANKS!

There are no Haswell 7970/8970 systems at the moment, however, contact a clevo reseller and see if they can supply you with a Haswell unit with a 7970m GPU. Or you could wait until the end of this month for the 8970m to become available to haswell systems. Only a 10% performance increase however.

Ya i think the 8970 is only a 50mhz boost over the 7970 so thats not very important as i believe they are the same chip.
