Building a 350D, have questions about mobo and sli/cf compatibility.

Thread Starter
I'm putting together a 350D Haswell build and need a little help.

I am considering going with either the Gigabye Sniper M5 or the Asus Maximus Gene VI. (I am leaning toward the Sniper as I would really like to have a green theme.)

Is anyone running a 7970 GHz Vapor-X in Crossfire on either of these mobos? I've been told the card actually takes up the space of 3 slots with that aftermarket cooler.

Will most CF/SLI setups work on the Sniper? IIRC I've seen SLI 770s, 780s, and CF reference 7970s. I just don't want to buy a card (or two) and they not fit now (or down the road). Thanks.

Might want to consider Sapphire Toxic Vapor-X HD 7970 GHz Edition 6 GB and skip wanting/needing to CFX multiple GPUs. It's not that the cooler takes up 3 slots it's just going to be very tight to try and fit 2 of them in the 4 slots. If you can keep one empty in the middle it'll allow for some breathing room for the upper card. Lower card is going to be close to PSU though so no idea what distance to PSU is going to be either.
