A8 5600K upgrade

My brother had a E2180 + ECS G31 + 2 x 1 gig DDR2 800 mhz + 7600 GT 256 mb compuer die on him (I'm thinking either memory or motherboard) but since its cheaper to upgrade than try to get the components to test here is what I came up with:

A8 5600K $89 (4th july promo)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113281

MSI FM2-A55M-E33 $50 (He refuses to overclock)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130661

CoolerMaster eXtreme Power Plus 500 watt $40 + 15 mir (July 4 MIR) = $25
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171031

Team Dark 8 gb (2x4gb) DDR3 1600 $55
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820313343

WD 1TB Blue WD10EZEX $70

With 2 day shipping via shop runner account the total for above was $304.95 shipped ($290 after the MIR), and a HTPC of sorts. Doesn't game much if any. This is costing him $150 (birthday money) and me $140 (gift from me)

Before
E2180 Dual 2ghz
ECS G31
Adata 2x1 gb DDR2 800
WD 250 IDE
Generic 350 watt
Win Vista x86

After
A8 5600K Quad 3.9ghz turbo
MSI A55
Team 2x4gb DDR3 1600
WD 1TB Blue EZEX Sata 3
CM eXtreme Power Plus 500
Win 7 x64 Pro

Unchanged components
Lite-On 20x DVDRW
some cheap case
some kb/mouse
42" HDTV (I think not sure on size)

Primary uses is to handbrake downloaded movies (remember compared to a e2180 not a 3770k)

It'll be a pretty large upgrade for him. More then capable. Let me optimize the build for you(to save as much money as possible).

Was already ordered (arrives tuesday) and all parts bought from newegg. I don't believe it could've been built any cheaper but let me see what you came up with. thumb.gif

Oh, well I was just going to look for combo deals etc. Unless you did that already. It can normally save 10-30 dollars.

Good job on the build overall thumb.gif, you'll be quite surprised with the performance of that APU.

Just installed the components and am very impressed. Very powerful for $285 after MIR

His encoding a dvd rip went from 2+ hours down to 30 minutes (about as fast as my Q6600 @ 3.2 ghz)
