I dont want to sound negative etc but i just dont like it as we had the same recycled game two - three years back in a different name.
I'm sorry, but what? Apparently you've never played it because if you had, you wouldn't be saying those things. I've played every weekly build of this game since October 2011 and I can tell you that it's definitely not Need for Speed. Yes, Slightly Mad Studios did develop Shift 1 and 2 for EA so the art looks similar, but this game isn't even close to those. The sounds that are somewhat close to completion (only a handful of cars at the moment like the Ford Capri, Pagani Zonda, BMW Z4 GT3, etc) are amazing. The rest of the sounds are simply placeholders. The gameplay itself is also leaps and bounds above what the Shift series had. The revised physics engine and new tire model makes this game a real sim (a step above GT and Forza in my opinion) that can easily compete with the likes of Assetto Corsa and RFactor 2. The force feedback is also fantastic.
To answer a few of the questions I've seen in this thread so far, here's some facts:
SMS is aiming for slightly over 100 cars (including DLC) for the completed game, along with around 50 tracks. The game is being made for PC and then being ported to consoles, not the other way around. Currently, its planned to be released for PC, 360, PS3, Wii U, PS4, and XBone. This however, is subject to change and there's currently a debate going on about whether or not support for 360 and PS3 should be dropped to focus more on next gen. Funding for development on next gen consoles will be opening up soon and tool packs will be available again at that time (you'll get access to the PC version). The release date is currently sometime in the first half of 2014.
EDIT: I'd like to note that because SMS has been so transparent with the development of this game, there are thousands of videos on Youtube from members for anyone to see. My advice to anyone looking for gameplay is to only watch videos from the latest build of the game. Currently the latest weekly release is build 510. Most videos note the build number in the title or description. Also keep in mind that everything you're seeing is still pre-alpha and any bugs, glitches, sfx errors, or whatever else not quite right has already been spotted and discussed on the WMD forums.Edited by CJRhoades - 7/8/13 at 2:19pm
