I have an optical drive, but it's so old, I doubt it'd work on a newer motherboard.

Yeah, that's an old IDE / PATA model, there aren't any such data connectors on modern motherboards. You'll definitely need a new SATA drive to replace it.

Nice, upgrade to a 3570K and it's a done deal. Upgrading to an SSD and 8GB RAM on my laptop. Should sell decently, to help my desktop that is... Thanks guys, you helped alot!
