Asus m5a97 evo r2.0 for 8320?

I'm planing to build a PC, with either a 8320/50 but i'm quite unsure if the diference is worth 30€, i'm not going to be a wild overclocker... Hahaha but i would like to hit some 4,5 ghz or so..

About the mobo, i read some awfull things about the gigabyte ud3 series and the same with asrock 970 extreme4 so i was planing to go with the Asus m5a97 evo R2.0 what do you think?

About the ram, ill be buying some kingston 1600 ddr3 so will they do fine for.overclocking?

Sorry for my english but i'm spanish so this is the best i can do for now hahah smile.gif

Thanks for reading my qyestions! Cant wait to order it all... biggrin.gif

It is a decent board with a quality 6+2 power phase.

It really is not true about having to have an 8+2 phase to overclock an 8320/50. The ud3 has more phases then the m5a97 evo but the asus board has superior vrm's which are also digital

What kingston ram are you getting? I believe alot of kingston ram uses hynix memory which should be fine for overclocking.

In theory i will get some kingston hyperx blu 1600.

Then you agree that the asus one is better than the UD3?

Thanks for your answer smile.gif

No problem.

I would get the asus board rather then the gigabyte as The current revision of the 970a ud3 has problems with voltage. How much can you buy the m5a97 evo for?

I have the Kingston DDR3 1600 HyperX Blue and Black.

If you want to overclock to it's max potential then only put in 2 sticks, otherwise 4 sticks can do 1600 just fine, but not much beyond that.

With 2 sticks, I hit well over 2100mhz with something like 11-11-11-44 on air.
