z87 sabertooth owners (asus) Can you plug chassis fans into the CPU_Opt fan headers?

I have (2) 140mm fans on the top of my fractal arc midi r2 case:

I want to plug into the CHA_FAN headers on my mobo but I am already using one, so I only have one open for one of the 140mm fans.

The only thing on top open, that the cord will fit to is the CPU_OPT header, as seen in the photo above (the 140mm fan on top's cord is not long enough to reach the other CHA_FAN header)

Can I plug the top fan into the 4pin CPU_OPT header or was this header only meant for CPUs?

You can, but it will run at the same speed as the cpu fan. Whatever you have that set to (Im guessing h220 is plugged in there). Or you could get an extension, or splitter. What are you using the built in fan controller for?

Thank you.

I was NOT using the built in fan controller because I find it makes the cable management ungodly ugly.

And it kind of sucks, because if I use to fans as exhaust on the top of my case, only 1 can reach the CPU_CHA fan header by the 24pin connector, and I can't reach the other fan header which is near the bottom of the mobo.

Do they sell 3 or 4pin chassis fan extension cords?
