[Uncut] Microsoft Asking Developers About an "increased GPU clock and an increase to 12 GB of RAM"

As of right now current Xbox One devkits are running with 12 GB of RAM and the reason for the idea behind a upclock is that the Xbox One is running cooler or using less power than was planned and they can now allow for a stable upclock. This is only speculation on why this rumor could end up being true and backing up what the insider sources have said, as a reminder the Xbox 360 originally was being built with 256 MB of RAM but late in the development Microsoft decided to use the 512 MB of RAM from devkits.

The desperation tasty. If you don't have the hardware to match clock the crap out of it.

Edit: It is also getting pretty late in the game to start changing the specs of the console I would think. With a Holiday Season release they are going to need some stock ready.

They should do this and keep the price at $500. thumb.gif

GPU clocks increase is reasonable... but increase memory? That might entail new PCB?
Once again...

Yes it will... New traces between the RAM and APU would add to the design costs...which at this late in the game I can't see happening... It already has 16 memory IC's on the main board and I can't see them adding another 8, there's no space for another 8 chips.

Unless they use double density IC's which bump the cost up, as well as the price and heat output.

so they might have to clock it at 1200 mhz to match the PS4's GPU strength for their 1152 cores at 800 mhz.

Is a 7790 OCed to 7870 strength possible?

So from 8GB t 16GB RAM and a GPU overclock?

That sounds pretty good.

Also source link website shows nothing?
