3930k 6 cores at stock w/ hyperthreading vs 2 cores at 5.0GHZ w/o hyper threading power usage

I have a 5.0ghz stable 3930k and I use a lot of software that is multithreaded so I usually leave it at stock however I have lately been streaming a lot and want to just have 2 cores at 5.0GHZ since the streaming software is single threaded. Power usage is a huge concern now since I am really broke lately and thus my question is, will the power usage be significantly greater with only 2 cores no hyperthreading than with all 6 going with hyperthreading at stock? If not I will setup profiles for OC and NON OC so I can easily switch back and forth.

2 cores, no hyperthreading the power should be pretty nominal. I'd rather opt though for different streaming software.

If you're concerned about power usage I'd be more concerned by the GPU than the CPU.

I am using xSplit, got a license for the pro version from a friend as a gift and its apparently multithreaded although I never see it use more than 2 cores so IDK. I prefer xSplit because of its feature list which is much better than ANY of the competitors. Honestly the lag isnt that bad at 1080p 60fps streaming its just if I could eliminate it all together that would be better.

What voltage do you need for 5.0?

Have you just considered bumping things all around up a bit? I can leave stock volts on mine and overclock quite nicely, so essentially free power. lol.

The amount of power saved by doing this is not even worth thinking about. If you are that broke at the moment try looking for other things you can turn off, like lights, standby devices.... I don't know, anything?

Perhaps don't use that beast of a rig for a while and stick to your mac book.

I can get to 5.0 @ 1.18VTT which isnt much higher than my stock voltage.

1.3x It varies but usually between 1.36 and 1.38
