I've heard you can use dropbox with other programs, but I rather an all in one solution, but If dropbox is the only way I guess I'll take it.

Create network mapped drives and have your program directly download there tongue.gif

I have mapped network drives, but what I wish to do is to have the server download it, otherwise my computer downloads it and uploads it to the server i think
Edit: Essentially a remote downloader

Edit: problem solved, last time I tried downloading youtube videos to mapped drives it froze firefox, doesnt seem to do that anymore, thanks.

I'm currently looking for an AntiVirus for my homeserver, I don't know why I didn't install one in the first place :O
I currently use AVG AntiVirus free edition 2013 on my PC, but my home server is a little vulnerable, the files on it come from PCs well protected on my network, But I still want to be cautious and protected, and I rather not have something which will be a resource hog or list some files as viruses if they are not, which is a pain I really hate false positives.

Anyone know of a decent AntiVirus which isn't trigger happy to get rid of false postive files?
Is an AntiVirus even necessary for a home server?

Why not have a VM to test files? Only if it's approved to be clean (not causing any problems or virus) then move it to the main storage sector

That way if the VM is infected just wipe it. There, done wink.gif

Hmm what kind of VM, do you mean something like a Linux VM with an AntiVirus or something to test it? and if it's clean have it moved back over?

ESET is a great AV. We use it at the office, and for all of our clients. Our clients are all in the medical field and they need security.

Nice thanks, I'll give that a look, also is the default windows firewall secure enough?
Windows Server 2012 has locked off most ports and I need to manually open them for things such as game servers and media streams, is this good enough?
I dont have shares accessible over the internet, only media streamers such as Plex and Subsonic with the built in security functions, HTTPs encryption and My Plex etc.

Oh also I've been looking into VPNs, I want to maintain the accessibility I have with my server and I would also like to keep the speed too, If I do happen to lose some speed from my home server I wouldn't really mind as long as It's minimal, but I also want to be able to do RDP and keep the server on my LAN to do DLNA, etc and still host game servers such as Minecraft.

Can you do all of this with a VPN and still run a DynamicDNS/IP?
