HDMI is better for colors than DVI?

Thread Starter
Maybe it's the DVI to HDMI adapter I bought from Rocketfish, but I have two Playstation 3D TVs as monitors, waiting on the third for triple monitor gaming, and the one that is connected to the DVI -> HDMI from the graphics card seems washed out, especially with the blacks. I have tested to see if it was the monitor, but when on the HDMI out from the card, it gives me the same blacks as the other. I connected them both to the DVI ports via the same exact DVI to HDMI adapters from Rocketfish and then they both look washed out compared to the HDMI out direct.

My question is this:

Is what is giving me the washed out colors the cheap DVI to HDMI adapters or is it just that HDMI gives deeper darker looking colors?

Or

Is there something in Catalyst that will help me correct this.

Thank you folks!

HDMI and DVI are identical, except for the fact that HDMI carries audio. It's probably the adapter.

I use to think they were the same too, but I think HDMI is treated different at the driver level vs DVI. You may need to play with the color subsampling settings, like 4:4:4 or 4:2:2, can't remember which one but I know HDTVs will default different values (and often needs to be manually set) if a computer is hooked up via HDMI. The Playstation 3D TV may be acting more like a TV vs a pc monitor. Just my two cents.
