z77 Bottleneck issues. Upgrade to x79 or wait for x99? - Page 2

Since all 3dmark apps are heavily CPU and memory dependent, 1600MHz definitely isn't helping. I rasn that bench with either 2666, 2400, or 2200. Can't remember which strap.

But you need to decide whether you want to use your rig for gaming or benching. A 3770k will not out-bench a 3930k/3960x in many benchmark suites. But it can equal the performance in most games.

If you want to get top benches, stay away from mainstream platforms. If you want to game and use your rig, put the x79 money towards a 1440p surround setup and use that 6Gb of vram.thumb.gif

Also, going from an AX850 to AX1200 got me ~400 points in 3DMark. But that's titans under water and overvolted.

I'll just stick to gaming. Not gonna worry about my bench scores. Lol

Thanks for the info
