Windows 8, No sound.

Thread Starter
There must be tons of threads that are about this very issue. However, I've yet to find any answers that effectively fix this problem. I had this problem once before, relatively recently and I ended up restoring my Windows 8 files. It worked fine, the sound came back and everyone slept well that night.

Once again I find myself with a computer with no sound. When checking out the playback devices I can see the audio being read by the Realtek device, since the green bars go up and down. That usually means I'll hear the jingle from the "Test" but with this issue nothing comes out. I've run the troubleshooter, I've disabled all other devices, and enabled other devices, and I've tried plugging in the front of my case, back of the case, and in the monitor that gives hdmi playback sound through my 660.

My MSI motherboard and GTX 660 are the two devices that play sound on my computer and neither are working correctly. I've updated all devices after scanning with slimdrivers, and I've also run a systemcare scan, and updated my windows 8 OS. I'm at a deadend, and would appreciate anyone's help. If you have an idea of what this could be, please don't hesitate, and let me know your idea.

Thank you for your time, I hope this is easy as pie to one of you fellows out there!

Stupid question. Have you tried plugging your speakers into something else like your phone?
