The Toshiba Excite 7.7 (AT270/AT275) is pretty great for emulators and watching videos. The extra 0.7" diagonal makes a noticeable difference. Screen isn't as sharp as the Nexus 7 but for what you're wanting to do, it should work great. I don't use mine much as my primary usage is comic reading and "AutoBrite" (can't be disabled) gives black and white manga a bluish tinge. However, when I want to watch a bit of Netflix or play a round of Tekken before sleeping, the AT275 is what I reach for.

If you're looking to save a few bucks, though, perhaps you might consider the Hisense Sero 7 Pro ($150, Walmart exclusive)? It's Tegra 3 same as the Nexus 7 and Excite 7.7. It only has 8GB memory but it does have a microSD slot for expansion.
