3TB WD Red 3.5" vs 2TB WD Green 2.5"

I'm looking to purchase a new hard drive a a small 'NAS' I am building at home however I'm confused between these 2 drives. For now I will keep the drives attached to a Raspberry Pi I have set up as a small File Server to stream media files however by the end f the year I will be using my current PC build as a home server.

My dilemma is that if I have a 2.5" HDD, it will be much easier for me to take my movies with me when I need to do so (which is not that frequent) while the WD Red will require a power supply. I previously had a 1TB 2.5" hdd and I had not filled it yet, so while 3TB of storage would be great, I can live with 2TB. I am also not planning to set up a RAID for a year or two. As I'm assuming that as long as I'm using the Raspberry Pi I will not see as much of a difference, my question is if it will make a difference once I start using a fully fledged home server. Will there be a big advantage on the WD Red over the 2.5 inch WD Green ? I will mostly use my server for streaming movies, backups and maybe host an ftp server.

Thanks. I'll probably go for the red then, seeing that I'd rather have a better network than portability :-)
