Sprint Wireless Internet?

Thread Starter
My sister works for Sprint (gets a decent discount) and I'm considering getting a wireless adapter for my laptop so I can access the internet anywhere I go. The subscription is only $15/mo. Does anyone have Sprint wireless internet access? How fast is it? What kind of restrictions are there? Please reply quick because my upgrade time is running out...

there may be different plans, i know cingular has plans that have a bandwith limit and then theres one that doesnt. however i have not used it so i cant give you an approximate on the speed since they would prolly be about the same

do you know if the plan your getting has a bandwith limit or if its unlimited?

I work for Sprint too. I believe it's a 2 mb download speed if I'm not mistaken. You get internet everywhere you'd get service if you were using a Sprint phone so that pretty much means anywhere except for the middle of nowhere. Not sure about the rates & plans, also try comparing her deal to this deal:

2.4mbps isn't bad at all if you can get it anywhere you've got Sprint service!

So since you're MUCH more technically savvy than my sister...

Would you recommend dropping the dough for a USB card or get a phone that can connect to your computer via a USB cable?

Phone As Modem

Use the optional USB cable, or Bluetooth® Wireless technology, to connect with a PC for Internet and email access on the Nationwide Sprint PCS Network.

This one looks to be the best combo, wireless internet capability and a digital camera:

To save money (wouldn't have to buy another accessory) I'd like to just get a phone, but how exactly does this work?

I'd just get the connection card or the USB card. I wouldn't use a phone as a modem. You can get the new Pantech card and it's cheap too... and here's that USB card.

The problem is, even getting just the phone will be a stretch of funds... I doubt I'd be able to afford both. What's the disadvantages of using the phone as modem? Is it slower? I doubt I'd be able to receive calls while I'm online, but that's not really too much of a concern (I don't receive many calls, anyway).
