Split between nVidia and AMD

Thread Starter
I am stuck on a GPU solution. I am eyeing the GTX 780 because its a great card, its using CUDA which is important to me, but AMD is still throwing itself in front of me. I am stuck between the OpenCL and CUDA debate. I am seeing that so far OpenCL is the future. For work we are given Adobe software which many of you know was originally CUDA based BUT now is being optimized for OpenCL. I haven't yet owned an nVidia card, last rig I had was two MSI Lightning 7970s in xFire. So in terms of which is more future proof, more supported (games too), and overall performer, should I stay AMD or go with an nVidia GTX 780? Oh, and my last dilemma is going for another good 7970 or wait a few months until the 7000-Series is replaced?

If you can, wait until October.

9000 series should be coming out by then. Either you will see a great lineup from AMD - or they will flop and by that time prices on a comparable Nvidia card will be lower.

Curious than what card I should use now? Maybe a 670?

I'd go with whatever card you have kicking around and wait two months.

Well, if you actually need a bit of horsepower - 680 would probably do just fine.

IDK, with the 7xx "refreshes" you may find more gtx 660s or 670s for folks that went to 770 or 780.
