FPS Drop during gameplay

Hello,
I've just recently encountered this problem (within the past week): When playing Borderlands 2, I've experienced severe FPS drops (from 30 to less than 10, which is unplayable). Initially, I thought it was a problem only related to Borderlands 2, however I tried playing League of Legends (a game that my system has never experience problems with before), and the FPS again dipped to <10 after about 10 minutes of gameplay.
I've scanned for viruses, and have come up clean.
CPU: Intel i5 750 @2.67
Motherboard: P55m-UD2
GPU: Geforce 9500GT
HD: WD Green 500gb

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what could be wrong; or how to find out what's wrong? Thank you.

Have you recently updated drivers?, If so try rolling back to an earlier version.

I tried that; the problem still persists. Is there any program to see if there's something up with my GPU or any component that might be acting up?
