ASUS P8P67 Pro -- "Overclock failed!" yet I'm not OC'd..?

Tried turning on my computer and noticed that the CPU_LED was lit. What finally got the computer to boot was turning my PSU off --> on.

Upon booting in I received some "Overclock failed" message on the BIOs screen... even though I'm not OC'd.

I just recently put this build in a new case (Lian Li PC-7HX) and swapped the PSU from an old Corsair HX620 to Seasonic X-650. Could the new PSU be the problem or is this a coincidence? I've never encountered this problem, so...

ASUS has been issuing this error for a few years now. I believe it is the default message explaining that your settings have been returned to default due to a power issue. I have had this occur many times and I just ignore it and continue.

First off, thanks for the response.

Just today it happened again, only the DRAM_LED popped up. Had to turn off >> on the PSU and.. it worked.

Think I'm just going to request a replacement from Newegg since I'm still within the time frame...

EDIT:

Does this PSU not play well with ASUS' power saving setting (EPU)? Because I've noticed that whenever none of the settings in the BIOs would change except for the EPU; instead of being enabled, it would be disabled.

Have you tried loading optimized defaults in bios and making sure your boot order is correct after that?

Update: got myself a replacement of the same model, and two days later I get the same issue. I'm just going to assume that this PSU doesn't play well with ASUS' EPU (power-saving feature) since I was using my older PSU during the duration and everything was good to go. Hopefully no damages were done on either affected parts.

Yep! Then I just changed the settings that I usually change (i.e. RAM timings, RAM voltage, disabling unused features such as bluetooth). No OC'ing so far...

it is safety mechanism if you have switch off power during POST, it revert every settings to default to ensure it POST successfully next booting.
