PCIE 2.0 hinder physx performance GTX 780????

Ok first before anyone flames me i am completely aware that pcie2.0 really doesn't really effect frame rates as far as a single card in a 16x slot @16 2.0. Now running SLI/CF when the bandwidth is cut down (16 to 8 or to 4) on the slots is another story.

So i was basking in the glory of what is my slumbering titan by throwing every game and benchmark at it i could think of....Then came teh batman. When running the bench with physx on and it comes to the the scene where the ice ray gun spray's shards all over the place my gpu usage drops down in the 40-60% usage. I doubt my 5ghz 2600k is limiting the card. i have tried all 3 physx settings, CPU,VGA,AUTO. i have also removed/reinstalled physx drivers and tried a couple different recent versions.

I have been told the the calculations for physx require ALOT of "raw compute" power and therefor crazy amounts of bandwidth...maybe?

so i ran the bench a few times with 2 different BCLK/PCIE freq's with with max settings(high FXAA)@1080

100 BCLK= 84-85

104 BCLK= 88-89

I know that's not a huge difference but it is damn near exactly a 4% increase in FPS which is how much i bumped the PCIE. i wish i could take it higher, since changes so small its really hard to tell.

So what do you guys think, and can one of you fine gentleman with a similar setup while having PCIE-3.0 run the bench? maybe even with the bus set @ 2.0 vs 3.0?

Thanks in advanced

PS: i might also add i have see this gpu usage drop as well in borderlands 2 under heavy SHTF fights.

If you are raising the BCLK you are also raising the CPU/ram clock speed so the added performance might just come form that and not the PCI-E. I can't really see the PCI-E 2.0 port being the problem here even for compute stuff (physX). If there was I'm sure folders would have spotted the limitation ages ago.

Also its Batman: AC and its performance in DX11 mode is pretty wonky.

Fair point, i did not consider that.

I did however drop my multiplier down to 48 when i raised my BCLK so its actually 8mhz slower which is beyond negligible. My ram did go from 1600 to 1664.

The question remains though.....why is it that the gpu usage drops under heavy physx?

Try running fluid mark as its a stand alone physX test I would trust it far more the Batman.

Regardless of stock, overclock or settings in fluid mark the gpu usage will not stay @ 100%. It will however stay at 100% longer and score a higher score on stock clocks than overclocked......***? its only getting to like 48cmax and 75TDP both of which i have set all the way up in precision, and its not like its down clocking.
