i5 4670k by a landslide although they will perform the same with multithreaded games like BF3, crysis 2,3 etc. but with games like MMO's starcraft 2, skyrim, planetside 2 etc.(my FX8320 at 4.7ghz was horrible with this game) it will lose badly. not the cpu's fault though coz these games are only two threadded
post #3 of 17
For current games, the 4670k, but the 8350 is still really good especially for streaming, etc.

4670k if you strictly game and dont do any video streaming, encoding, editing etc.
8350 if you game and do the above. You'll lose out only about 5-10% on FPS in certain games, not all.

According to some reviews i think the 4670k beats out 8350 even in things like handbrake. id go with 4670k either way.

Depends on your budget. If you have the money get the i5, if you are on a tighter budget get the 8350. Where I am the difference is large enough to buy 16GB extra RAM but am not sure about pricing outside of China.

Its not so much about the fps but the frame latencies instead. I have said before about frame latencies being, in a way, more important then fps.

Even though the 8350 might be keeping with the i7 and beating the i5 in crysis 3 the time it takes the amd cpu to render these frames might be longer then that of the intel cpu's.

Its why you should take when review sites compare fps between cpu's as whos the winner as a pinch of salt unless they list frame latencies aswell as response times.

By the way, the bit tech review listed above i believe is biased as i think they use thier own set of benchmarks which are coded for intel.

If current and/or future titles are important to you, the 8320 hands down.

Are you talking about old i5 or new i5 ?

http://www.pcgameshardware.de/CPU-Hardware-154106/Tests/CPUs-und-Prozessoren-Test-Bestenliste-AMD-und-Intel-675663/

And before anyone complains about the resolution, upping the thing would only make the differences between the CPUs smaller, it wouldn't make CPU X beat CPU Y.

And it's also good to note that out of the CPUs in the list (and excluding locked intels) the 8350 probably has the least OCing potential.

The 8350 is a CPU that can game just fine but it's far from being the ideal gaming CPU at the moment. In GPU bound tests intel will do just as well as AMD while 99% of the CPU bound situations are won by intel CPUs. So for gaming you get the best of both worlds with intel chips. For a pure gaming machine unless you're on a budget the 8350 (in which case you should go 8320) makes no sense.
