Borderlands 2 Unplayable

Thread Starter
Well I just purchased Borderlands 2 on Steam Summer Sale with Season Pass and the character addons. As it turns out that no matter what setting I have tried playing it on, the game will run silky smooth at 60FPS for about 5 minutes and then the screen will freeze and I have to control-alt-delete out of it to get back into Windows. When I go back in to the game it is running at 9-20FPS and is an unplayable slidshow.

What is happening here? I have all of my settings turned down to minimum,1920x1200 fullscreen resolution and I have installed the newest nVidia driver. With or without MSI Afterburner turned on it will do the same thing after 5 minutes of playing. I have to reboot my computer in order to play for another 5 minutes. Seems to be a game related thing. Is there a fix?

I was about to make a new thread on this. I also bought Borderlands 2 and a season pass but when i go to launch the game it freezes then either reboots my pc or BSOD's then restarts. i have googled it and installed motherboard drivers, GPU drivers and its starting to get REAL annoying mad.gif

If you're running any GPU OC, you might try running at stock, just to see ... other than that, not sure ... game's hardly ever crashed on me, with like 450 hours of play time. Good luck ... you'll love it once you get it working thumb.gif

If your GPU is OC'ed it could be that it's crashing the drivers and then when it goes back in, its running at the 2D clock speeds rather than the 3D ones.

I had that same problem but only after I installed the latest NVIDIA driver (326.41 beta build). So I decided to go back to the previous driver (320.49) and the problem has stopped. Try this and see if it helps. I just made this account and don't know all my hardware details to put into my sig. but I know I have an i5-3450 3.1 GHz and an MSI GTX 670 OC PE. I do still get crashes on it once in a while, I think BL2 is sensitive to OCing. I use MSI afterburner as well.

Yeah, this is exactly what it sounds like is happening.
