a linksys wrt54g with tomato or dd-wrt is a pretty solid router if you want to pick up something cheap (they dont make them any more i believe so you will have to get them second hand). the custom firmware unlocks the best in the little work horse and its pretty easy to mod for PoE and better antennas.

If you want something with newer features like wireless bgn as well as 2.4ghz/5ghz bands and advanced features im not sure. i havent upgraded my router in a while. i received a band new d-link dir-825 Rev. A1 router which contains all the newer features and I have no complaints other then that the Revision A1 isnt able to load a custom firmware. from what i can see they are about 85$ and are now entering a end of life faze because most retailers dont sell them any more.

Id post your needs for the router what kind of features you require as well as a price range. if you are a power user a router that is able to flash to a custom firmware is a must. you can do anything from custom firewall rules, power over ethernet, increase wireless output power, wireless bridges, and much more.

I'm looking for a router with all of the latest bells and whistles (meaning 802.11ac) which is solid enough to last me until the next must-have networking standard comes out and reliable enough that I'll only need to reboot it once or twice a year at most. My budget is around $200, though I would prefer not to go above $150 if possible.
